Beyond the Art: Practical Marketing for Building Your Brand & Audience

Marketing doesn’t have to feel separate from your creative work. Whether you’re an individual artist, performer, creative professional, or part of an arts organization, how you tell your story and connect with your audience plays an important role in building a recognizable and lasting presence.
Beyond the Art is a free, interactive workshop designed to make marketing more practical, approachable, and useful for the arts. Participants will explore how to define and communicate their brand, better understand their audience, develop content that feels authentic, and use storytelling to create stronger connections.
Through guided discussions, hands-on activities, and practical examples, we’ll explore branding, audience development, social media strategy, content creation, storytelling, and tools like Canva that can make day-to-day marketing easier.
Rather than simply talking about marketing concepts, this workshop will give participants time to apply what they learn to their own artistic practice, project, or organization. Attendees will leave with actionable ideas, resources, and a clearer direction for building their presence and reaching their audience.
No formal marketing experience is required. Participants are encouraged to bring a laptop or tablet so they can participate in the hands-on portions of the workshop.
