SUMMARY:Basically Beethoven Festival 2024
DESCRIPTION:Basically\, the best show in town …\n\n\nFree\, family-friendly concerts on Sundays in July at 2:30 pm \nThe Basically Beethoven Festival was Fine Arts Chamber Players’ inaugural concert series. Since 1981\, the Festival has provided North Texas with free chamber music concerts during the month of July\, a traditionally slow time for arts events in Dallas. The Festival features professional musicians from local ensembles performing a diverse range of music. \nEvery program begins with a Rising Star Recital spotlighting local\, gifted young musicians\, many of whom are winners of area music contests and concerto competitions; followed by the Feature Performance showcasing professional musicians from across the Metroplex. \nAdmission is free and performances fulfill FACP’s commitment to produce classical music concerts with no barriers to attendance. Performances are enjoyed by longtime arts patrons and attendees who are new to classical music. Families with children in particular might find the Festival a good fit. \nSince the pandemic\, we now offer recordings of these concerts on our YouTube channel HERE. \nWe are indebted to the past work of Dr. Alex McDonald\, Festival Director of Basically Beethoven Festival from 2015 – 2023.

SUMMARY:Radiance
DESCRIPTION:Experience the grand finale of Bruce Wood’s 14th season with Radiance\, an unforgettable showcase featuring three captivating and emotionally powerful dance performances. \nImmerse yourself in the fiery passion of Boléro by Founder Bruce Wood\, the exhilaration of the world premiere\, Smile\, by Artistic Director/Resident Choreographer Joy Bollinger\, and the world–renowned Nine Sinatra Songs by legendary Choreographer Twyla Tharp. \nSet to Ravel’s passionate score\, Boléro ignites the stage with its smoldering and sophisticated allure. Praised as “outrageously haughty and downright sexy” by Victoria Looseleaf of the Los Angeles Times\, this iconic dance has become a timeless classic. \nAmplifying the excitement is Bollinger’s playful and sultry world premiere\, Smile\, set to the soulful tunes of Jon Batiste’s acclaimed album\, Hollywood Africans. Bollinger weaves a radiant tribute to the vitality of life\, drawing inspiration from ragtime\, boogie–woogie\, and classical music. \nTwyla Tharp’s romantic\, tender\, playful\, and exuberant Nine Sinatra Songs brings the season to a spectacular close. Decked out in costumes by Oscar de la Renta\, dancers swing\, swirl\, tango\, and cha–cha through a glittering ballroom while tracing an arc of romantic relationships. Elizabeth Kendall of The New York Times said\, “Nine Sinatra Songs struck me as something rare: An American masterpiece.” \nRadiance guarantees an electrifying performance that will captivate and uplift your spirits. \nJoin us for the post–performance Curtain Chat\, where you can engage with the artists and share your insights on this spellbinding experience.
