DESCRIPTION:Every 1st and 3rd Tuesday at The Wine Therapist in Lakewood. \nClassical Open Mic is a free and open weekly event\, where professional and amateur classical musicians can play anything they desire related to classical music. From violin solos to opera arias to string quartets and horn concertos\, musicians of all levels are welcomed to share their talents with the friendly and appreciative cafe audience. \nA professional pianist is available to accompany you on opera arias\, flute sonatas\, cello concertos\, you name it! They will sightread your piece\, which means there are likely to be some mistakes\, but it’s part of the fun of making music on the spot. \nThe Wine Therapist has wonderful high quality wine and beer selections. While they don’t serve food\, you can order food to be delivered from any of the nearby restaurants or carry in. \nHow can I play? \nEverybody who plays classical music is welcome to join. Click the sign up link on our wesbite to grab your slot. \nAll skill levels are welcomed and encouraged. There are always professional musicians who perform\, as well as amateurs and students. Musicians of all levels enjoy this unique opportunity to have fun making music in front of a welcoming\, receptive audience. Our goal is to provide a fun atmosphere where all can share their talents and not be afraid to be harshly judged. Mistakes are pretty common and part of the open mic experience.

DESCRIPTION:WORKSHOPS ARE BACK!!! \nWeekly workshops run from 6-8pm in the main ballroom. Intermediate and Advanced Workshops have not yet resumed\, but hopefully will return soon. Topics of these workshops and their instructors change from month to month. For more information\, please click on a particular week’s event page. \nBeginner 6-Count Basic (Newcomer) Lessons run from 8-9pm in the main ballroom. The content of this lesson is the same every single week\, and we recommend attending several of these lessons to get the basics down before attending additional workshops\, etc. \nOpen dancing runs from 9pm-11:30pm in the main ballroom. DESCRIPTION:This dramatic adaptation of Homer’s myth begins with a modern young woman who is struggling to understand Robert Fitzgerald’s translation of The Odyssey. A classical muse appears\, and the young woman becomes the goddess Athena–a tireless advocate for Odysseus in his struggle to get home. With her trademark irreverent and witty twist on classic works\, Zimmerman brings to life the story of Odysseus’s ten-year journey\, depicting his encounters with characters such as Circe\, the Cyclops\, Poseidon\, Calypso\, the Sirens\, and others. \nRun time for is approximately 1.5 hours and will include a 10-minute intermission. \nPatrons are welcome to bring in chairs\, blankets\, picnic baskets\, food\, beer\, and wine. \nTICKETS AND ADMISSION: \nTickets will be emailed to you upon purchase. Please present your ticket barcode to the Front of House attendants for scanning when you arrive. Tickets may be purchased online up until the beginning of the performance (encouraged) or at the front gate. \nLost your ticket? Click on “resend confirmation” at the top of the page to have a copy of your ticket emailed to you. We encourage you to create an account so you can always access your tickets. \nPARKING: \nPlease purchase parking when you purchase your tickets. A separate parking barcode will be included in your ticket purchase confirmation email. Cash will also be accepted at the parking lot entrance. Parking is $7 per performance or a season parking pass may be purchased for $20.

The piece takes place at the crossroads of “here and there.” In the mythical tale\, Marvell Thunder\, a mysterious shapeshifter\, challenges Glory\, a blind songstress\, to a magical duel on the Delta Blues guitar. This delightful new musical will run in June 2024 at The Undermain Theater. Play off the Page’s Mary Aalgaard says \n\nThis blusical has everything: family dynamic\, a love story\, a mythical character\, soul-searching\, and some of the best music I’ve ever heard. \n\nKeith Glover is from Bessemer\, Ala. He is a member of The New Dramatist Playwrights Organization and a recipient of a Pew Charitable Fellowship grant in 1996. His first plays include Dancing on Moonlight (New York Shakespeare Festival\, 1995)\, Coming of the Hurricane (Denver Center Theatre Company\, 1994\, Penumbra Theatre Company\, 1995\, Arena Stage in Washington\, D.C.\, 1996) and Thunder Knocking on the Door\, a blusical tale of rhythm and blues\, was produced by the Alabama Shakespeare Festival\, Baltimore’s Center Stage\, The Dallas Theatre Center and Yale Repertory Theatre during the 1996-97 season.

DESCRIPTION:Written by Keith Glover \nDirected by Guinea Bennett-Price \nThunder Knocking on the Door\, a “bluesical” deemed by critics as “the tastiest\, bluesiest score in recent memory\,” is written by Keith Glover with music by Keb’ Mo’. The piece takes place at the crossroads of “here and there.” In the mythical tale\, Marvell Thunder\, a mysterious shapeshifter\, challenges Glory\, a blind songstress\, to a magical duel on the Delta Blues guitar. This delightful new musical will run in June 2024 at The Undermain Theater. Play off the Page’s Mary Aalgaard says \n\nThis blusical has everything: family dynamic\, a love story\, a mythical character\, soul-searching\, and some of the best music I’ve ever heard. \n\nKeith Glover is from Bessemer\, Ala. He is a member of The New Dramatist Playwrights Organization and a recipient of a Pew Charitable Fellowship grant in 1996. His first plays include Dancing on Moonlight (New York Shakespeare Festival\, 1995)\, Coming of the Hurricane (Denver Center Theatre Company\, 1994\, Penumbra Theatre Company\, 1995\, Arena Stage in Washington\, D.C.\, 1996) and Thunder Knocking on the Door\, a blusical tale of rhythm and blues\, was produced by the Alabama Shakespeare Festival\, Baltimore’s Center Stage\, The Dallas Theatre Center and Yale Repertory Theatre during the 1996-97 season.

DESCRIPTION:WORKSHOPS ARE BACK!!! \nWeekly workshops run from 6-8pm in the main ballroom. Intermediate and Advanced Workshops have not yet resumed\, but hopefully will return soon. Topics of these workshops and their instructors change from month to month. For more information\, please click on a particular week’s event page. \nBeginner 6-Count Basic (Newcomer) Lessons run from 8-9pm in the main ballroom. The content of this lesson is the same every single week\, and we recommend attending several of these lessons to get the basics down before attending additional workshops\, etc. \nOpen dancing runs from 9pm-11:30pm in the main ballroom. There is a short break in the music around 10:15pm for announcements\, birthday dances\, and the shim sham. instructors\, and are subject to their discretion. \nPricing \n\nWeekly workshops\, Free for Members\, $5 for Non-Members.\nBeginner 6-Count Basic (Newcomer) Lessons\, Free with admission to the dance.\nSocial Dance\, $9 of Members\, $12 for Non-Members.

Viola disguises herself as a young man\, and under the name Cesario\, gets a job as a servant for the Duke\, Orsino. \nNEED TO KNOW: \nSummer Entry Times: 7:15pm for Season Ticket Subscribers & Benefactors I  7:30pm for Advanced Sales and Groups I 7:45pm General Admission  I  8:45pm curtain \nRun time for is approximately 1.5 hours and will include a 10-minute intermission. \nPatrons are welcome to bring in chairs\, blankets\, picnic baskets\, food\, beer\, and wine. \nTICKETS AND ADMISSION: \nTickets will be emailed to you upon purchase. Please present your ticket barcode to the Front of House attendants for scanning when you arrive. Tickets may be purchased online up until the beginning of the performance (encouraged) or at the front gate. \nLost your ticket?
