SUMMARY:La Maupin: The French Abomination
DESCRIPTION:La Maupin is a tale of love and tragedy set in 18th century France all wrapped up in a high octane Punk Rock Vanity Fair package. Based on the true story of Julie D’Aubigny\, bisexual duelist and opera singer who was famous for dueling men and wooing their women. Through a beautiful mix of sword fighting and dance\, the show details her almost too incredible to believe exploits (like the time she burned down a nunnery to escape with her lover\, or the time she fought 3 men at once- and won!) While exploring the Julie’s journey to find happiness and acceptance as a queer woman way ahead of her time.

DESCRIPTION:In Shakespeare’s play\, Much Ado About Nothing\, power defies legacy. Throughout the show\, we see greed\, jealousy\, and deception make a valiant effort to foil the love of young courtship. This comedic play unfolds as Leonato\, leader of Spain\, awaits the arrival of Don Pedro of Aragon and his victorious army of Portuguese soldados (soldiers). “Donde hay poder surgen la codicia\, los celos\, el engaño y el amor.” \nIn collaboration with Shakespeare Dallas\, Much Ado About Nothing runs July 30 – August 4\, 2024 at 8 pm each night at Samuell-Grand Amphitheatre. \nIn an effort to make access to the arts more equitable for the members of our DFW community and beyond\, we have removed our ticket prices and have instead shifted to a donation or ‘pay-what-you-can’ model for all 6 performances of Much Ado About Nothing \nMake your donation for this comedic tale of love\, power\, and adventure today!

SUMMARY:Tres Artes - The Painter & the Poet
DESCRIPTION:Flamenco Fever’s insightful Fusion Series will present Tres Artes:  The Painter and the Poet\, a story of Forbidden Love. \nAs part of the 2024 season of Elevator Project at the AT&T Performing Arts Center\, local students\, international musicians and dancers took the stage at Strauss Square to tell the tragic love story of painter Salvador Dalí and martyred Spanish poet\, playwright and flamenco aficionado\, Federico Garcia Lorca. \nJoin us for an evening of conceptual choreography\, elegant costuming and incredible music as we delve deeply into the provocative history of Spain and the rise of Surrealism\, the LGBTQ community and the Fascist Franconian Regime in the early 20th century.  War scene pyrotechnics provided by Fempyre. \nPintura\, Poesia y Pasion combines four dynamic art forms – live music\, dance and the recitation of Garcia Lorca’s poetry – into an unforgettable performance. In this sophisticated evening. The Cast includes Julia Alcantara – Local Director/Producer as “La Argentinita”\, Jorge Robledo (Argentina) as “Lorca” and Joseph Gonzales (Albuquerque) as “Salvador Dali”. \nFlamenco Fever produces nearly 70 performances annually\, each accompanied by requisite live music. They landed Dallas on the world map last summer when they were  the first American company in Spanish history to be invited to perform. Hundreds of flamenco aficionados\, and Spain’s top artists\, enthusiastically received the show.
