This year’s lineup includes the legendary Chicano theatre of the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center (San Antonio)\, Venezuelan artists from Chicago\, and a play written and directed by one of Latin America’s most important writers\, Arístides Vargas. Additional performances will showcase artists from Spain\, Mexico\, Puerto Rico\, Los Angeles\, San Antonio\, and Dallas’s own creative community. \nTwo political prisoners meet every Sunday to tell each other the story of Don Quixote and Sancho Panza. Through absurdist and physical comedy\, La Razón Blindada reveals two men mischievously turn to storytelling to survive their new reality. \nDrawing from Cervantes’ Don Quixote\, Kafka’s The Truth About Sancho Panza\, and testimonies from Argentine political prisoners of the 1970s\, La Razón Blindada is a moving testament to the human need to imagine\, to resist\, and to persevere.

Bring your original poem or song — in English or Spanish — or just bring your friends to enjoy an evening of spoken word\, music\, and movement. \nFeaturing new\, short theatre works by Dallas artists led by Escultores del Aire (Spain)\, and an open mic with live music hosted by DaVerse Lounge (Dallas)\, this high-energy festival kickoff launches three weeks of arte y cultura in English and Español! \nFor those curious about sharing their inspiration\, your hosts Will Richey and Alejandro Perez will guide you in creating a poem on the spot and sharing it with the crowd — no experience necessary. The content of this lesson is the same every single week\, and we recommend attending several of these lessons to get the basics down before attending additional workshops\, etc. \nOpen dancing runs from 9pm-11:30pm in the main ballroom.
