The company creates innovative\, audience driven experiences with a goal of sparking community conversations and bringing audiences closer to dance. \nAbout Julia Lederer \nAn internationally-acclaimed writer\, Julia’s plays have been produced across North America and in Europe\, and her films have been selections at major festivals\, including TIFF\, Palm Springs\, and SXSW. \nJulia’s work is driven by a deep curiosity about the world and how weird it is to be a human here. She has also published poetry and essays\, written for podcasts\, and is an award-winning copywriter. DESCRIPTION:In its 6th year as an independent international film festival\, the mission for the NBFF is to curate dance films that explore an innovative approach to “challenging the possibilities of what dance can look like in video form”. The festival is an international festival that is held simultaneously in Mexico\, South Korea\, The United States of America\, and online to create a venue for various cultural exchanges. The NB team believes experiencing art– and more specifically experiencing art via dance and film– creates opportunities for understanding other perspectives. \nReviewing over 100 submissions from 36 different countries\, the NBFF jury panel curated the NBFF Official Selection by selecting films dance films that explore an innovative approach to “challenging the possibilities of what dance can look like in video form”. SUMMARY:Paella y Pasion
DESCRIPTION:Paella y Pasion has become a popular part of the organization’s culturally rich Festival. That is one reason Flamenco Fever now plans to move this crowd-pleasing\, family-friendly event to spring\, presenting it as a stand-alone event to expand the organization’s public visibility\, provide additional flamenco-focused performance opportunities\, and build its audience and base of financial support. \nPaella y Pasion is already a proven way to bridge the divide between traditional flamenco performances in formal venues and economically diverse local audiences who customarily have limited or no access to such venues. Producing Paella y Passion each spring will provide another public event for local individuals and groups to perform for their families\, friends\, community members and existing flamenco aficionados as well as raise general public awareness about the art of flamenco and the role of Flamenco Fever in the Metroplex’s cultural landscape. \nAs Paella y Pasion has as part of the fall festival\, a spring event will provide beginning flamenco dancers\, singers and guitarists the relaxed atmosphere and supportive public outdoor environment they require to let their talents shine\, and more experienced students will get to meet and mentor newcomers to the flamenco arts. \nFor $20 per person\, audience members may also purchase a bowl of paella\, which comes with a flower\, a Spanish-themed polka-dot scarf or a fan – which further immerse them in the flamenco experience. Audience members are encouraged to bring a chair or blanket for comfort and to support the participation of families that span multiple generations.

She specializes in custom pieces for clients to create that perfect fit and look. Her pieces are timeless with flexibility and fashion combined. Her pieces can be seen at weddings and formal events or as day to day comfort wear.\nShe seeks to upcycle and recycle fabrics and clothing whenever possible making much of her line eco friendly. Kelley Keefner designs functional art clothing for active and stylish fashion enthusiasts and encourages people to step out of the box and co-create a closet full of fun.

DESCRIPTION:WORKSHOPS ARE BACK!!! \nWeekly workshops run from 6-8pm in the main ballroom. Intermediate and Advanced Workshops have not yet resumed\, but hopefully will return soon. Topics of these workshops and their instructors change from month to month. For more information\, please click on a particular week’s event page. \nBeginner 6-Count Basic (Newcomer) Lessons run from 8-9pm in the main ballroom. The content of this lesson is the same every single week\, and we recommend attending several of these lessons to get the basics down before attending additional workshops\, etc. \nOpen dancing runs from 9pm-11:30pm in the main ballroom. There is a short break in the music around 10:15pm for announcements\, birthday dances\, and the shim sham. instructors\, and are subject to their discretion. \nPricing \n\nWeekly workshops\, Free for Members\, $5 for Non-Members.\nBeginner 6-Count Basic (Newcomer) Lessons\, Free with admission to the dance.\nSocial Dance\, $9 of Members\, $12 for Non-Members.
