The company creates innovative\, audience driven experiences with a goal of sparking community conversations and bringing audiences closer to dance. \nAbout Julia Lederer \nAn internationally-acclaimed writer\, Julia’s plays have been produced across North America and in Europe\, and her films have been selections at major festivals\, including TIFF\, Palm Springs\, and SXSW. \nJulia’s work is driven by a deep curiosity about the world and how weird it is to be a human here. She has also published poetry and essays\, written for podcasts\, and is an award-winning copywriter. DESCRIPTION:In its 6th year as an independent international film festival\, the mission for the NBFF is to curate dance films that explore an innovative approach to “challenging the possibilities of what dance can look like in video form”. The festival is an international festival that is held simultaneously in Mexico\, South Korea\, The United States of America\, and online to create a venue for various cultural exchanges. The NB team believes experiencing art– and more specifically experiencing art via dance and film– creates opportunities for understanding other perspectives. \nReviewing over 100 submissions from 36 different countries\, the NBFF jury panel curated the NBFF Official Selection by selecting films dance films that explore an innovative approach to “challenging the possibilities of what dance can look like in video form”. Written by Julia Lederer and developed in Bombshell’s signature immersive style\, Flies will draw you deep into another world where you’ll make life and death decisions alongside the women of the island. \nAbout Bombshell Dance Project \nBombshell Dance Project is a dance theatre company based in Dallas\, Texas. The company creates innovative\, audience driven experiences with a goal of sparking community conversations and bringing audiences closer to dance. \nAbout Julia Lederer \nAn internationally-acclaimed writer\, Julia’s plays have been produced across North America and in Europe\, and her films have been selections at major festivals\, including TIFF\, Palm Springs\, and SXSW. \nJulia’s work is driven by a deep curiosity about the world and how weird it is to be a human here. She has also published poetry and essays\, written for podcasts\, and is an award-winning copywriter. Currently her first feature\, WITH LOVE AND A MAJOR ORGAN\, is screening at festivals around the world\, after its premiere at SXSW.

DESCRIPTION:WORKSHOPS ARE BACK!!! \nWeekly workshops run from 6-8pm in the main ballroom. Intermediate and Advanced Workshops have not yet resumed\, but hopefully will return soon. Topics of these workshops and their instructors change from month to month. For more information\, please click on a particular week’s event page. \nBeginner 6-Count Basic (Newcomer) Lessons run from 8-9pm in the main ballroom. The content of this lesson is the same every single week\, and we recommend attending several of these lessons to get the basics down before attending additional workshops\, etc. \nOpen dancing runs from 9pm-11:30pm in the main ballroom. There is a short break in the music around 10:15pm for announcements\, birthday dances\, and the shim sham. instructors\, and are subject to their discretion. \nPricing \n\nWeekly workshops\, Free for Members\, $5 for Non-Members.\nBeginner 6-Count Basic (Newcomer) Lessons\, Free with admission to the dance.\nSocial Dance\, $9 of Members\, $12 for Non-Members.
