A Message from the Sammons Center Regarding COVID-19
Thank you. Your generous and loyal support has enabled the Sammons Center for the Arts to provide a nurturing, enriching environment for local performing artists, arts groups, and audiences since 1988. As the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation develops, we want you to know that, while we recognize that the arts are a vital part of our lives and culture, our primary concern is everyone’s safety and wellness.
We continue to closely monitor developments related to COVID-19 and follow guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and local health and government authorities such as the City of Dallas, Dallas County Health and Human Services, and the State of Texas. We are complying with Governor Greg Abbott’s executive order for everyone to stay home through April 30 unless they are conducting essential business. In other words, the Sammons Center will be closed through that period. This closure means that all Sammons Center and resident and user group activities are cancelled until further notice. If you have any questions, our staff is generally available via email and phone; click here for the staff directory or email us at email@example.com.
In addition, we have postponed the Cabaret shows in March, April, and May, Sammons Jazz concerts in April and May, and the Sammons Discovery concert in May. For patrons holding tickets to those performances, the tickets will be valid for the fall 2020 season. We will contact patrons as soon as the performances are rescheduled. In the meantime, please stay connected to us via social media or check our YouTube channel to enjoy clips of previous Jazz and Cabaret concerts along with the new Take 6 interviews with local jazz musicians.
We strongly encourage everyone to be vigilant, follow hygiene practices as published by the CDC, and comply with other recommendations to minimize the risk of getting ill or spreading the virus. Some of these practices are staying home, social distancing, and frequent hand washing. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to keep everyone healthy and ready for the return of an exciting and vibrant arts scene!
